Changing your password

You can change the password you use when you log into Joiin here.  To do this enter your existing password then enter your new password and click the Update Password button.

Passwords must meet the following requirements:

  • at least 9 characters.
  • at least one uppercase letter
  • at least one lowercase letter
  • at least one number
  • at least one special character

Two Step Authentication

Two Step Authentication (2SA) provides an additional level of security when accessing Joiin.  It requires you to enter a code (that is sent via SMS to your mobile phone or generated through an Authenticator app on your mobile phone) when you log into Joiin for the first time on a new device, as well as your username and password.

Enabling Two Step Authentication

It's a simple process to enable 2SA:

  • In the Two Step Authentication section of the Your Profile page, click on the button to choose which method of authentication you wish to use: Text Message or Authenticator App.

Using Text Message

This method will send a text message to your mobile phone whenever you log in on a new device. You must enter the code you receive into Joiin when you log in.

  • Enter your mobile phone number - this must be preceded with the plus prefix and your country code.  e.g +44 - refer to the list of country codes for more information.
  • Click Next.  An SMS containing a code will be sent to the phone number you entered.
  • When you receive this code, enter it into the field provided and click Enable.  If you did not receive the code you can resend it by clicking the Resend Code button.

Using an Authenticator App

This method uses an Authenticator App, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy, to generate a code which you then enter into Joiin when you log in.

  • First, make sure, you have installed an Authenticator app on your smart phone - these are all available from Apple or Android app stores.
  • Once installed, there will be an option to add a new account and from there, to scan a QR code. Scan the QR code which Joiin presents on screen - the app will start generating codes.
  • Click Next in the Joiin set up screen and enter the code from the Authenticator app into Joiin and click Verify.

NOTE: Authenticator Apps normally continuously generate new codes which have a short lifespan of 30 seconds or so - once the time is expired a new code will be generated. You must enter/use the code before the time has expired.

Logging in using Two Step Authentication

Once 2SA is enabled, each time you log in on a new device you will be prompted to enter a code in order to gain access to the app.

The code is obtained depends on the authentication method you selected:

  • Text Message - a code will automatically be sent to your phone.
  • Authenticator App - you must open the App to obtain a newly generated code.

Enter the code you obtain and click Verify to complete the login process.

If you do not receive the code or the code is not working click Try again to return to the login page and attempt to log in again.

Clearing Devices

You can see a list of all devices you have logged in to using 2SA in the Used Devices section. If you're no longer using a device or concerned that a device is being accessed by someone else you can clear the 2SA on all devices by clicking the Forget all devices button.

Switching off Two-Step Authentication

You can switch off 2SA any time by going to the Your Profile page and clicking on the Disable authenticator app or Disable text message button.
