This article contains instructions for manual installation of the Joiin Excel Add-in on a Mac. The Joiin Excel Add-in lets you interact with Joiin reports and data directly from within Excel.


These instructions are temporary while the Add-in is in Alpha release. It will soon be on the Microsoft Marketplace where you will be able to install from.


Pre-requisites

You will need a Joiin account with the Excel Add-in feature enabled. Contact support to request this.


Instructions


  • Log into Joiin
  • Get your API Key
    • Select API Access from the top right account menu.
    • If there is no pre-existing API key, click on Generate API Key.
    • Click on the Copy icon to copy the API key to the clipboard.
    • Keep note of the API Key somewhere
  • Get the Excel Add-in Manifest file - this is a file which you must download to your local machine and place in a particular directory
    • Select Excel Add-in in the left menu.
    • Click on Download Plugin button
    • The Manifest file will download to your Mac drive.
    • Copy this file to the following location on your drive:

~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef/

  • Restart Excel
  • Click on Add-ins icon in the toolbar



  • Click on the Joiin Excel Add-in



  • Enter the API Key you noted from the previous step.



  • The Add-in will now be ready for use, with a list of available functions displayed. You can click on a function in the list to insert it into a cell - and from there, add other functions into cells, just like you would any other Excel function.
